Are you experiencing a difficult time in your life and looking for help and support?

Perhaps you are depressed, anxious, stressed or finding your life empty and meaningless.

Are you struggling with relationships, with your family or possibly just to like yourself?

There are many reasons that can lead you to counselling. I offer a welcoming, respectful, non-judgmental presence always aiming to follow what works best for you. I believe every individual has a capacity for full potential and that crises can be opportunities for change and inner growth which can be transformative and teach us new ways to move forward, allowing us to live life more fully.

Psychosynthesis is a gentle and profound psychotherapy well suited to guiding those undergoing such an intense part of their personal journey. It treats the whole psychospiritual being – not just the personality; It can be deeply beneficial and soothing to those undergoing an intense or difficult part of their personal journey. Psychosynthesis counselling can bring healing and new meaning as we learn to bring more conscious awareness into our lives.

Psychosynthesis counselling draws on a myriad of ideas and techniques that foster personal and spiritual growth.  Often as we undergo change, there are opportunities to find deeper meaning and purpose in our lives. Counselling with me provides a safe nurturing space to work with both the darkness and emerging light in your life.

About Me

Johanna Burton

My work background is primarily in education and the performing arts, I have a degree in philosophy. I came to Psychosynthesis counselling quite late in life, but I have found it enlightening and empowering on levels beyond my expectations. It has given me the ability to live and to express the spirituality which has always been part of me, it gave me the strength to deal with the gender dysphoria which I have known since a small child.

I am a transwoman. It has been a long and, at times, difficult process to arrive here. I do believe that this can give me empathy and insight working with clients across the range of genders.  We all have unresolved tensions and potentials, yours will not be the same but they are always the places that we can grow from.

My experiences  have led me to study psychosynthesis, and eventually train as a counsellor. I trained at the Psychosynthesis Trust in London and am a registered member of BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). I abide by the BACP code of ethics.

Starting Counselling

It is a good idea to book a single session in order to meet me and learn a little bit more about the process and whether it feels right for you.

From there, if you want to go ahead, it is usual to commit to  a minimum of six sessions after which there would be a review.  Sessions take place on a weekly basis. The overall length of being in therapy varies for each individual and could be anything from a few months to a couple of years. The important thing to remember is that it is about you and your journey and that I am here to help facilitate that.

Cost and Location

I work with clients both in person and online. My online rate is £40 per 50 minute session; working face to face it is £50 per session.  I  offer everyone the first full session without charge, so that you can get a feel for working with me before making any decision.

I can also offer concessionary rates – please enquire.

I am based in London SE1 close to London Bridge Station.
